The Scrap Exchange is pleased to announce the opening of a new Green Gallery art exhibit on August 19. "Know More Nothing" marks the first collaboration between artists Jason E Osborne and Alex Mignolo. The multi-media exhibition includes paintings, sculpture, strange objects and an exciting premiere of the first edition prints of the enigmatic short story Know More Nothing, written by Mignolo and illustrated by Osborne. Expect an incongruent, unintentional and dissonant viewing experience.
The exhibit opens Friday August 19 with an opening reception scheduled from 6-9 pm. The reception includes refreshments and free art-making in our Make and Take room. Music will be provided by two local Durham bands, Freylach Old-Time Jamboree, and Fanghole. Freylach Old-Time Jamboree is a lively mash-up of Jewish folk and down-home southern string band music. Bring your dancing shoes! The band features Lori Baron on drums, Riki Friedman on clarinet, Mike McQuown on accordion, Hal Schnee on bass and Christine Westfall on fiddle. Fanghole is a driving instrumental power-trio that won't let you sit still. Fanghole features Ben Brokenbrough on guitar, Ben Philbric on drums, and Chris Fulton on bass.
“Know More Nothing” will run from August 19 through September 11. Admission to the Green Gallery is free. The gallery is open to view anytime during regular retail store hours. For more information on the Green Gallery or The Scrap Exchange, call 919-688-6960 or send an email to store@scrapexchange.org.
Green Gallery opening receptions are held in conjunction with Third Friday Durham festivities and sponsored by PBR.
